NSBR Launches Excellence Scholarship Fund

Baton Rouge, LA. (May 7, 2015) – New Schools for Baton Rouge (NSBR) has launched the Excellence Scholarship Fund (ESF). As a school tuition organization recognized by the Louisiana Department of Education, NSBR will administer scholarships for students from low-income families seeking to attend high quality nonpublic schools. The Excellence Scholarship Fund network will only include schools with a track record of academic success and strong leadership in the Baton Rouge community.“Since our beginning, New Schools for Baton Rouge has been committed to increasing the number of students with access to excellent schools. By launching the Excellence Scholarship Fund, we will be able to provide today’s students with greater access to the excellent schools that have served our community for decades” said Chris Meyer, CEO of NSBR.“Investing in the Excellence Scholarship Fund allows a direct impact on students across the city, ensuring they have access to an excellent education today,” said Lane Grigsby, NSBR board member and inaugural donor of the Excellence Scholarship Fund. “The Tuition Donation Rebate Program has the potential to open doors for low-income families across our community and across our state.”The scholarships are funded through the Tuition Donation Rebate Program, which provides Louisiana taxpayers with up to a 95% rebate from the Louisiana Department of Revenue after the funds have been spent on scholarships to qualified students. The scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis to students and families with income that does not exceed 250% of the federal poverty lines and who qualify. Donors to the Excellence Scholarship Fund dramatically alter the lives of students from low-income families by providing them the opportunity to attend our city’s best nonpublic schools. For more information on the Excellence Scholarship Fund, click here.
