"Meet the Staff": Tyler Litt

What’s a quote that motivates you throughout the day? When you get these jobs that you have been so brilliantly trained for, just remember that your real job is that if you are free, you need to free somebody else. If you have some power, then your job is to empower somebody else. A quote from Toni Morrison. What’s your most memorable NSBR moment? My first week during the Staff Retreat and Board Meet. (I realized I worked with a special bunch of people in the former, and moved into a different aspect of education through support in the latter.)What are your favorite go-to locations to recharge and gain inspiration/motivation?A ride down St. Charles on the streetcar in New Orleans. What is the funniest joke you’ve heard recently? Any one-liner from Alone Together or The Read podcast. What’s some insider knowledge that only people in your line of work have? Relationship is paramount no matter the stakeholder. Education is such a nuanced and intimate construct which lends to no simple answers; however, we are committed to providing solutions. What’s about to get much better?Personally: work life/balance ... NSBR: the ability to provide great options and to empower families to make best decisions for their children.Who would play you in a movie of your life?Mindy Kaling or Issa Rae.What sets NSBR apart? The mix of perspectives and experience of its staff (and those we work with), along with the commitment to doing what is best for kids in education. What bit of trivia do you know that is very interesting but also very useless? If I tell you, the question will never come up on Cash Cab hence rendering me no longer an option for you to call. What really needs to be modernized?Access to and mindsets surrounding mental health. What topic could you spend hours talking about?Beyonce? Anything, I love learning new things and challenging my minds flexibility. What handy tips or tricks have you picked up from your NSBR position? How to insert a line break in Excel without using 689 spaces. What do you do to make the world a better place?Meet everyone with humility, compassion and (sometimes) a little snark. What’s your favorite thing about Baton Rouge? My granny. What’s the best lesson you’ve learned from a work of fiction?Reading the ending first doesn’t always mean you can anticipate the challenges or plot twists ahead. Take it one day at a time and whatever should happen will happen, despite what happens.[caption id="attachment_2115" align="alignleft" width="266"]
