Louisiana ranks fourth nationally in overall education freedom in the latest Education Freedom Report Card released by the Heritage Freedom Foundation. The state made the most significant jump in the country, moving from No. 18 to No. 4 compared to its 2023 ranking.  

The report card evaluates states in four categories: education choice, teacher freedom, academic transparency, and the return on investment for education spending.  

Louisiana improved overall in three categories, including a 17-spot jump in education choice and a 7-spot jump in return on investment for education spending.
